Background and Border Style
You can use a background or a border to add visual interest to the first page of every chapter, each page in a chapter, or even every page in your book.

You can apply these to your print edition using a Heading Background, Page Background, or Page Border.

What are Backgrounds and Borders?
Backgrounds and borders are decorative images you can add to your print edition. Vellum lets you add three different kinds:

Heading Background Appears behind the first page (or spread) of a chapter |

Page Border Appears in the margins every page of a chapter |

Using a Background or Border
To use a background or border, you’ll need to locate the Background and Border feature style:
Heading Background Presets
Vellum comes with built-in Heading Background presets that you can easily incorporate into your book:
The Heading Background you select will be automatically applied to the beginning of every Chapter of your print edition.
Custom Backgrounds and Borders
If you have your own artwork you’d like to use for a background or border, press the Create Custom button that appears below the style carousel.

You will be presented with a dialog that lets you choose what kind of background or border to create:
